Yoruba Basket Round with Lid


   This hand made basket is from the Yoruba tribe of Nigeria. Traditionally used as a ceremonial basket for holding special items, or for presentation of a bride's dowry. This basket is wrapped with dyed leather and intricately decorated with cowry shells, once used as currency across Africa and still highly regarded.
