Professional 19-key Balaphone


    A rare find with this quality of craftsmanship in the States! The balaphone is a traditional instrument of the Mande griot or jeli, the oral historians and sages of the Malinke Empire. This professional quality balaphone was hand made in Guinea and has 19 keys made of the very resonant hare (pronounced haree) wood of West Africa. Small gourds underneath catch and amplify the sound. The balaphone comes with 2 professionally made balaphone sticks.
